Walking Gwithian to Godrevy Navax

<< Previous walk: Hayle Towans to Gwithian
Next walk: Godrevy Navax to Basset's Cove >>
Park your car at the small beach cafe in Gwithian. Follow the road in a north-westerly direction around the base of Godrevy Towans. The footpath runs to the seaward side of the road and is quite level.
The clifftops here are quite low and very grassy and this makes the walk to Navax very easy and enjoyable. Now heading in a northerly direction the 86 feet high lighthouse at Godrevy Island comes into view.
A small grassy parking area with nearby toilets indicates the end of the road. The path rises gently here from about 20 metres (65 feet) above the sea to approximately 45 metres (150 feet) as you round Godrevy Point. Below you are the small coves of Mutton Cove and Kynance Cove.
The path continues to climb up the National Trust Area of The Knavocks until you reach the Triangulation Point at Navax Point some 76 metres (230 feet) above the sea. There is an excellent illustrated hardback book available to buy on the Literary Landscapes of Virginia Woolf entitled 'From the Lighthouse to Monk's House', by Katherine Hill-Miller.
