St Michael Penkivel village, Cornwall
St Michael Penkivel is a small village tucked away in Mid-West Cornwall on land bounded by the Tresillian River to the north west and the River Fal to the south east. The village lies about seven miles from Truro by road via Tresillian. As is the norm, the church is at the centre of the village. It dates from 1862. The current church stands on the site where previously a church dating from 1261 was situated. The unusual name of the village coming from St. Michaelis de Penkivel, who arrived here in 1261.
