St Mawgan village, Cornwall
St. Mawgan, or St. Mawgan-in-Pydar to give it its full name is a village located about seven miles northwest of Newquay in North Cornwall. It is sometimes confused with the village of Mawgan-in-Meneage on the Lizard Peninsula.
Nowadays St. Mawgan is mainly known as the location of Newquay Cornwall Airport, whilst the wartime airfield of St. Eval lies just to the north of the village.
The coast lies about two miles away to the northwest at Mawgan Porth where there is a large beach and all the usual amenities.
The area lies close enough to Newquay to make regular trips into town to experience the surf culture and nightlife whilst being just far enough away for a little relaxation.
