St Anthony-in-Meneage village, Cornwall
St Anthony-in-Meneage, (Cornish: Lannentenin), is given its full name to distinguish it from St Anthony-in-Roseland. It has also been known as St Anthony-in-Kerrier. It lies near to the mouth of the Helford River and overlooks Gillan Harbour.
It is thought that this part of the county was home to a loose grouping of small monasteries, founded possibly from Brittany or Ireland.
The area is very picturesque and a wonderful place to stay, it costs a little more to reside here. St Anthony Church is beautifully situated on the Dennis promontory and close to the waters of Gillan Creek. The Dennis (Cornish: Dinas) was an early celtic fortress and doubtless the church grew up beneath its patronage.
