Poughill village lies in North Cornwall about 2 miles north of Bude.
Pronounced Poffle, the village lies about a mile inland from Northcott Mouth and was recorded in the Domesday Survey of 1086 as Pochelle.
St Olaf's Church is at the heart of the village. Dating from the fourteenth century, the church is well worth a visit and is dedicated to the Norwegian King and so-called Martyr, St Olaf (Olaf II of Norway).
