Portreath village, Cornwall
The village of Portreath lies on the north coast of Cornwall about four and a half miles northwest of Redruth.
It has not always been known as Portreath however. It was renamed from Bassets Cove when the major landowners of the area, the Lords de Dunstanville and Basset renamed Basset Cove as Portreath and developed its harbour for tin trading purposes. The large Manor House and Country Park at Tehidy being their former home.
