Bolventor village, Cornwall
Bolventor lies just north of the A30 trunk road approximately midway between Bodmin and Launceston. High on the moor Jamaica Inn offers refreshment whilst nearby Colliford Lake offers a place to relax or let off steam.
The settlement dates from the 1840's when it was created as a separate parish by Squire Rodd of Trewartha. His aim to build a moorland settlement complete with church and school. Land was sold off to form smallholdings and farmsteads with the population of the area growing to around 300 people by 1900. Sadly the hamlet is known largely bypassed by the majority of visitors speeding down the A30 trunk road.
