Looe Town in Cornwall
Looe is a seaside town on the south coast of Cornwall. With a population of 5,280 (2001 census). It lies 20 miles west of Plymouth and 7 miles south of Liskeard. In medieval times there were two towns on opposite banks of the River Looe. East Looe includes the fishing harbour, the main shopping centre and the sandiest beach. West Looe is quieter, but also has shops, restaurants and hotels and leads to Hannafore with its fine views of Looe Island, more accurately called St. Georges Island. The two towns are joined together by a bridge across the river.
