Alfred Consols Mine, Cornwall
Gwinear: grid reference SW585369
Alfred Consols lies less than 200 metres NNW of Great Wheal Alfred Mine and was a large copper mine group located just to the southeast of Copperhouse, near Hayle in West Cornwall. As the name suggests the concern was made up of an amalgamation of smaller concerns including Wheal Alfred, East Wheal Alfred, North Wheal Alfred and South Wheal Alfred.
Production 1801-1964 totals 175,000 tons of copper. There are still remains of mine burrows and some dumps visible today. Former shafts include: Davey's, Hosking's and Nicholls Shafts.
