Kota Kai, Porthleven

Map showing Kota Kai, Porthleven

Jude and Jane Kereama opened Kota Kai Bar and Kitchen in late 2011 due to requests from the public, customers and friends for a relaxed family venue in the village.

Having a four year old themselves, they understand the need for somewhere to go for a coffee, snack, glass of wine or full meal where the kids can also enjoy themselves – allowing the parents to properly relax!

But Kota Kai is not just for families: the lounge/Film room is a wonderful room in which to relax on a comfortable sofa with a cocktail, wine or beer, with 'Mini Kai' to snack on, as is the skittle room with its old fashioned wooden skittles, and lovely lounge seating.

Jude and Jane will continue to run their highly acclaimed, more intimate restaurant, Kota, from mid March 2012 after a small revamp.

Kota Kai occupies the whole of the top floor of Celtic House and has unbeatable views across Porthleven harbour and beyond. Almost every table in the restaurant will benefit from these views as the tables run alongside the many windows at the front of the building. Diners at the top of the restaurant have the option of watching their food being prepared since the kitchen at Kota Kai is open.

The Square at Porthleven, Porthleven

Map showing The Square at Porthleven, Porthleven

Located in the heart of Porthleven and overlooking its picturesque harbour, The Square At Porthleven is the latest impressive addition to this well-known 'foodie' village.

Those who know their award-winning sister restaurant in Perranuthnoe, The Victoria Inn, will love this latest venture; the brasserie-style menu, warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere make for a perfect venue at which to enjoy a chilled lunch, a lively dinner or even just coffee and cake.

During the summer, why not dine al-fresco on our terrace whilst watching the boats come and go?

The ethos is 'local is best' and the menu changes daily according to what is available; fish is landed right here in Porthleven Harbour, meats are sourced from Vivian Olds and Primrose Herd and they also use a selection of local vegetable suppliers.

The proprietors also believe that treats are not just for special occasions... So if you want a bottle of champagne (locally sourced if you like), well, who are we to stop you?
