Tregardock

Tregardock beach, Cornwall

Tregardock Beach is a little known beach situated on the North coast of Cornwall about 2 miles west of Delabole, near the hamlet of Treligga.

Located roughly halfway between Tintagel and Port Isaac, Tregardock is a rock strewn sandy beach just south of Tregonnick Point and Tail and below the strangely named 'Mountain'.

There is no beach at high tide but at low water the beach stretches for almost half a mile. Tregardock Beach is owned by the National Trust and a very small car park caters for visitors.

North-west facing the beach is open to the full might of the Atlantic Ocean and this makes swimming exteremely dangerous due to the swells and offshore rip currents. Experienced surfers make use of the raw power of the sea here whilst land lubbers may wish to explore the rock pools.

Access is via some rough cut steps, with safety equipment located at the top. There is no lifeguard cover.

Tregardock is a dog friendly beach with no restrictions at all. Toilets and all other facilities are to be found at Delabole about two miles away. The coves just south of the beach are Minehousedoor Cove and Treubies Cove.

Please be aware that due to the flat aspect of Tregardock beach great care should be taken not to get cut off by the incoming tide.
