Towan Beach, Newquay is a very popular beach on the western side of Newquay, North Cornwall. Situated between the harbour and Great Western Beach, Towan Beach is the closest to Newquay town centre.
Access to the beach is easy, making it one of the most popular beaches in Newquay. Car parking is available in the town centre.
North-facing the beach consists of fine golden sand. On the east of the beach a rock island connected by a short suspension bridge marks the boundary between Towan and Great Western beaches.
All the usual facilities are available in the town and lifeguards patrol the beach in high summer.
Please Note: Surfing can be limited during busier times.
When you think of Newquay you may not immediately think of walking. For keen ramblers there are some good walks in a westerly direction over Towan Head to Fistral Beach, Pentire and Crantock or east along the cliffs above Great Western Beach, Tolcarne, Lusty Glaze and Porth to Trevelgue Head, Whipsiderry and Watergate Bay.
