Talland Bay near Polperro in South East Cornwall is a mixture of sand and shingle. Talland Bay lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is overlooked by many visitors heading to the better known resorts of Polperro and Looe. Talland actually comprises of a pair of beaches known as Talland Sand and Rotterdam Beach, with the western beach possibly the more sandy.
At low tide, rock pools provide explorative work for curious youngsters whilst older family members can swim safely from these sheltered beaches. The beaches are also popular with anglers and diving enthusiasts and have a history of smuggling in the olden days.
Talland is situated roughly mid-way between Looe and Polperro and is an excellent place to pause if walking the coast path between these two locations.
