Readymoney beach, Cornwall

Readymoney Cove is a southeast facing beach situated on the western fringes of Fowey on the South Cornwall coast. It looks directly across the Fowey River to the village of Polruan

The beach consists of coarse golden sand with a little shingle and is quite popular with families. It is sheltered to the southwest by the sixteenth century St. Catherine's Castle and to the northeast by the medieval walls and blockhouses that formerly protected the port of Fowey.

Apart from the obvious attractions and amenities provided by Fowey and Polruan, other attractions include the ferry across to Bodinnick; the walk around Pont Pill at Polruan and exploring Daphne du Maurier country near P'ridmouth and Menabiilly.

St. Catherine's Castle provides a good vantage point from which to view the estuary. It was built by Henry VIII as a defence against invasion and is now an English Heritage property.

Fowey lies in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that stretches from Par Sands to Looe, hugging the south Cornwall coastline. A ferry service runs from Fowey to Polruan.

Readymoney Beach has a seasonal dogs ban, dogs are not permitted between Easter Day and the first of October.
