A sand bar joins the Scillonian islands of St. Agnes and Gugh.
Situated on the east coast of St. Agnes, Isles of Scilly just to the east of Higher Town lie a pair of small sheltered beaches. To the north of the bar lies Porth Conger, overlooked by the Turk's Head Inn. The shallow water gliding over the pale sand, makes it the perfect place to paddle!
To the south of the sandbar lies The Cove, otherwise known as Covean or Cove Vean. The small southeast-facing beach consists of pale golden sand, pebbles and is edged by rocks.
There are no facilities, or lifeguard cover at Porth Conger and a seasonal dog ban applies between the 1st May and 30th September.
St Agnes has a wide range of accommodation, from guest houses to self-catering cottages and even a campsite. Refreshments on the island include the Covean Tea Garden, Tel. 01720 422620; the Turk's Head Inn (Tel. 01720 422434) and a general store that doubles up as a post office.
The west of the island, near the camp site is noted for its wonderful sunsets.
