Polzeath, Pentireglaze

Polzeath, Pentireglaze beach, Cornwall

Pentireglaze Haven lies at the northern edge of Hayle Bay, Polzeath in North Cornwall. Situated north of Slipper Point, the beach is basically a long thin inlet or gully connected to its larger neighbour, Hayle Bay, at low tide.

West facing, Pentireglaze Haven consists of fine golden sand that grows considerably as the tide recedes. The beach is often quite sheltered and has rocks and caves to explore. On the south side of the beach at Slipper Point there are unusual purple coloured slates that may be of interest to geologists.

There is safety equipment at Pentireglaze Haven with lifeguards available at Polzeath until the tide cuts Pentireglaze off from the main beach.

Swimming and bathing is possible but only within areas designated as safe and on a rising tide. This is due to offshore rip currents and the strong undertow. The area is not suitable for snorkelling but the rock pools may provide some interest.

There is a Seasonal Dog Ban meaning that dogs are not permitted from Easter Day until the October 1st.

Toilets are found next to the car park in New Polzeath. All other facilities are in Polzeath.
