Housel Bay

Housel Bay beach lies just to the northeast of the Lizard Lighthouse on the South Cornwall coast. Sheltered by Lizard Point to the west and Pedn Olver to the east, this little southeast-facing beach of pale golden sand, is uncovered only at at low tide.
Despite its spectacular location, the beach is seldom busy - due to the steep path down from the South West Coast Path. It is overlooked to the west by the Lizard Lighthouse and to the east by the Housel Bay Hotel.
Snorkelling is possible at all states of the tide, but the beach is quite remote and extra care should be taken if entering the water here.
Parking and all the usual facilities are to be found in Lizard Village along with a number of shops and cafés. There are no restrictions for dogs.
The South West Coast Path runs behind the beach and is frequented by many day trippers as well as the more earnest rambler.
The views around this part of the peninsula can be truly stunning but if the weather turns there is also 'nowhere to hide', so it is always wise to take some sort of waterproof clothing if exploring away from the village centre.
