Gunwalloe Fishing Cove
Gunwalloe Fishing Cove lies on the west coast of the Lizard Peninsula in southwest Cornwall. Situated about 400m southwest of Gunwalloe village, the beach is effectively the southern extremity of Porthleven Sands.
Southwest-facing Gunwalloe Fishing Cove is also known as Halzephron Cove - an anglicised form of Als-Ifarn - The 'Cliffs of Hell'.
The beach, a mixture of fine shingle and some sand, is seldom busy as there are no facilities and parking close by is not really possible. Gunwalloe Fishing Cove is dog friendly however, in that dogs are allowed all year round.
Most visitors tend to continue south over Halzephron Cliff to the far more acceptable Gunwalloe Church Cove and Jangye Ryn.
Swimming is not advised here as this particular stretch of coast is positively dangerous.
The whole Lizard Peninsula is an excellent place to take your holiday with a number of different places to visit within easy reach, including Cadgwith, Lizard Point, the coves of Porthallow and Porthkerris and the beaches of Kynance Cove and Kennack Sands.
