Great Western Beach
Great Western Beach, Newquay is a large sandy beach situated just to the north of Towan beach. It a very popular family beach and is best approached from the west by crossing over Towan Beach. The beach forms a wide crescent at low tide along with Lusty Glaze and Towan, offering plenty of space for beach sports and games, inexperienced surfers or just somewhere to top up your tan. Great Western Beach can also be reached by following the steep path that winds down from the Great Western Hotel.
The beach is just a few minutes walk from the town centre and has all the usual amenities. Great Western lies close to the railway station and attractions. The excellent Blue Reef Aquarium is just about 300 metres away as are a range of pubs, cafés and shops.
Lifeguards patrol the beach between 21st May and the 25th of September and dogs are permitted all year.
