Great Par, Bryher
Great Par, sometimes called Great Porth, is a beach on the southwest coast of Bryher, Isles of Scilly.
West facing, the beach is sheltered by Heathy Hill to the south and Gweal Hill to the northwest. The large rock offshore is called Merrick Island.
Great Porth is overlooked by the 25 room 'Hell Bay Hotel'. Owned by the Dorrien Smith family, it is the highest rated hotel and restaurant on Scilly, with three AA rosettes.
Activities available on Bryher and the other islands include: water sports, jet boat rides, kayaking and snorkelling and diving. Fishing trips and inter-island boat hopping are also popular pastimes. Boat times are available at the hotel reception.
In 1975, the Isles of Scilly were designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) so a visit here is always sure to please.
