Great Molunan

Great Molunan beach, Cornwall

Great Molunan and its adjacent Little Molunan beaches lie just west of St. Anthony lighthouse on the South coast of Cornwall.

St. Anthony Head is best known for its lighthouse highly visible from nearby Falmouth, in its position guarding Carrick Roads and the River Fal.

Southwest facing the two coves consist of coarse golden sand and are quite sheltered from most weather conditions. Swimming is possible but it is wise not to stray too far from the shore in case of offshore currents.

There is no lifeguard cover or safety equipment at either beach. Both beaches have numerous rock pools and many younger visitors spend hours exploring their contents. There is also good snorkelling to be had here under the right conditions.

Quite popular with beachgoers from Falmouth and St. Mawes the beaches are almost completely covered at high tide. It should be noted that one should not expect to use the beaches for at least one hour either side of high water.

Seasonal toilets are located in the car park. Dogs are permitted all year round.
