Carne

Carne beach, Cornwall

Carne Beach lies on the South coast of Cornwall and is part of the Roseland Heritage Coast. Situated roughly halfway between the villages of Portscatho and Portloe, Carne Beach is a southeast facing crescent of sand sheltered by the imposing Nare Head to the east.

The beach at this location is actually known by two different names: The western section, nearest Portscatho is known as Pendower Beach, whilst the eastern section is known as Carne Beach. Both beaches are quite popular with families and can become busy in high season due to their proximity to Truro and Falmouth.

There is parking and toilets nearby whilst refreshments and accommodation is catered for by the wonderful Nare Hotel. The beaches are quite easily reached off the A3078. St. Mawes to Tregony road, and are definitely well worth a visit if staying nearby.

There are fine walks along the South West Coast path here - Southwest towards Portscatho, St. Anthony and ultimately St. Mawes or northeast over the brooding Nare Head to Portloe, the hamlets of Portholland and Caerhays with its Castle and gardens.
