Appletree Bay lies on the southwest coast of Tresco near the Tresco Abbey Gardens. It looks west across Tresco Flats to the southern tip of Bryher and southwest to Samson.
The beach consists of typically Scillonian very pale golden sand, almost white in character. Places of interest nearby include Carn Near Quay and Oliver's Battery whilst inland it is just a short walk to Valhalla Shipwreck Museum, the Great Pool and Tresco Abbey Gardens.
There are no facilities, or lifeguard cover at Appletree Bay and a seasonal dog ban applies between the 1st May and 30th September. In fact, Tresco is the only island where dogs are not permitted to stay; however you may visit the island for the day as long as you keep the dog on a lead.
There is a good walk around the south of the island passing Carn Near and Oliver's Battery before heading north east towards Pentle Bay via the Appletree Banks and Green Island.
