This traditional family owned Cornish B & B also has an onsite dining room microbrewery & seafood takeaway facilities too. br / br / br / br / Driftwood Spars is ideally situated in St. Agnes a place of complementary contrasts from wooded valleys and deep dark tin mines to light and airy seascapes. There are carnivals fetes and fairs music and theatre regattas and fishing contests going on throughout the year. There are also numerous interesting galleries potteries and design workshops. Pubs and eating-places abound and the village is famous for its old pubs and nightlife. br / br / br / br / The establishment is a 17th century building full of history. The name Driftwood Spars hints at its local history - the ceiling beams in the bars contain spars from some of the ships that have been wrecked in Trevaunance Cove the local beach. All of our well equipped rooms are ensuite and some boast wonderful views. Plenty of parking is available and there is free wifi for guests in the main building. br / br / br / br / Please note rooms 10-15 are located in the annex across the (quiet) road these do not have the best wifi but are very suitable for dog owners due to the gardens. br / br / br / br / In November 2008 the Driftwood Spars was awarded for it s pub dining experience it gained a Taste of the West Silver award for 2008 and again in 2009. br / br / br / br / In April 2009 & 2010 we were named CAMRA Kernow pub of the year. br / br / br / br / In April 2011 we were named Free House of the Year by the Publican Magazine. br / br / br / br / PLEASE NOTE OUR CANCELLATION POLICY: 48 hours notice between October - March or 7 days notice April- September. Penkerris is a lovely old house built in 1903 with many of the original features. The lawned garden was once a croquet lawn but now we have comfortable garden chairs picnic tables and a barbecue. Children can play badminton or volleyball. There are swings and outdoor toys. There is parking for nine cars and two entrances. br / br / The cosy lounge has a 40 television Sky and BT Sport. There are indoor toys trains dolls and board games. The comfortable bedrooms have TV wifi and tea/coffee making facilities. br / br / We serve breakfast in the unique dining room. We buy local produce including bread baked here in the village. br / br / St Agnes three beaches are different in character. Chapel Porth is magnificent with towering cliffs huge caves pools soft sand and good surfing. The cliff paths are glorious and one can see the ruins of Wheal Coates one of the most photographed Engine Houses in Cornwall. There is a National Trust car park toilets and a small cafe. Lifeguards are on duty in the summer. br / br / Trevaunance Cove is comfortably commercialised with three car parks toilets and beach huts including ours which guests may use. There are ruins of an old harbour and many little rock pools where children can see small crabs fish and sea anemones. It is a very safe beach with lifeguards in the summer. Trevaunance Cove is good for surfing when rough and for swimming when calm. br / br / Trevellas Porth is small and far from the madding crowd . There are no facilities no toilets no cafe no lifeguards. br / br / St Agnes is on the coast almost midway between Newquay and St Ives. There are local buses to Newquay almost every hour and in the summer a few that go along the coast to St Ives. Truro with its cathedral big shops and county museum (a truly wonderful collection of minerals) is only 8 miles away (bus every hour). br / br / Penkerris is central for visiting Lands End and St Michael s Mount in the west as well as the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan in the east.
Salem House B&B
Under new management Salem House is a rural Bed and Breakfast set in an acre of private gardens next to an historic old copper & tin mine and community. Salem House is part of the historic Tregothnan Estate. The house dates back to the 1600 s originally built for the Hornblower family one of the historic mine owners of Cornwall. The house is steeped in history. Salem House is a home from home with spacious private accommodation and luxury furnishings. You can sit outside your french doors and enjoy the secluded garden and watch the world go by. Salem House is centrally located making both the North and South Coasts easily accessible along with all the major attractions and towns being within easy driving distance. We are a 2 minute walk from a bus stop making public transport an easy option. Buses to Truro are every 10 minutes and run until late in the evening. Truro is the Capital City of Cornwall. A beautiful Cathedral City with cobbled streets and the amenities restaurants and nightlife of a cosmopolitan centre. The surrounding area is particularly enjoyed by walkers and cyclists with many public foot and cycle paths close by. Business travellers and those wanting to keep in touch with the office and home are well catered for. We offer free wifi. The Cedars B&B
The host Janet and David would be thrilled to have you stay at our B and B. The Cedars is a 200 year old fully renovated property in the centre of the village and situated in a walled garden with plenty of private parking. Each and every one of our guests are truly valued.Our aim is to make your stay the best it could possibly be we pride our selves on attention to detail and work hard to create an envirnoment which is tranquil and perfect for relaxing in.All our rooms have been individually decorated to the highest standard. Each room has a flat screen tv/dvd with Freeview tea and coffee making facilities free wifi hair dryer and all 5 rooms have their own on-suite. br / br / br / br / There is a iron and ironing board on request.In the morning you have a choice of either eating your breakfast in the conservatory or elfresco on the decking watching our ducks roaming around the garden. (When available fresh chicken and duck eggs are on the menu and also home made jam and bread). There is a local pub in the village with a chef and they serve food from 11-2 and 6-9. In the village is the famous Gwennap Pit .We are only 5 minutes from the main A30 and 20 minutes from either the North or South coasts it is ideal for day trips to a host of other seaside resorts ie Falmouth PerranporthSt Ives and St Michaels Mount etc. br / br / br / br / It is also 8 miles from Cornwall s capital Truro with it s beautiful cathedral and unique shops restaurants and bars.There are a number of National Trust places around like Trelissick Trebah and Glendurgan gardens and Pendennis and St Mawes castles. You could also take a boat trip up the picturesque river Fal or to the Roseland Peninsula.Also there is Land s End the open air cliff top Minack Theatre and the Famous Eden Project to name a few. Truro and Falmouth universities 15 minutes away. After your busy day if you wish you could come back with a take away and eat it in the conservatory and then relax on one of the comfortable sofas in the lounge.
The building itself is old - it was the White Hart Hotel over 220 years ago with parts of the property about twice that age. Behind our small private car park (space for 3 or 4 cars) are buildings which are owned by the National Trust. Also at the rear is a decked area for relaxing in the sun. br / br / br / br / At the front is a small terrace sunny and sheltered an ideal vantage point for local events such as the Carnival Flora Dances and Victorian Street Fayre or just sit with a drink and watch the world go by.
